South Dublin Taekwondo

Friday 24^th January saw the 2^nd bunch of our Winter Grading Students show their abilities at Tallaght Leisure Centre. This was the 1^st time we split the grading into 2 parts to separate low grades & high grades, and it looks like this will be the chosen way forward as the structure allowed those grading more time to excel & show of their taekwondo abilities.

‘Beginner’ grading group 24.01.14

We are delighted to announce that all students passed their test, and passed well, each excelling in particular disciplines of taekwondo and showing off skills based on their own age category or ability level.

It was a good day for the new up & coming youngsters with a group of 5-8 year olds getting a lovely round of applause from the on looking families on the balconies. The PeeWee’s included Samantha Malecka [5], Khaled Kourrini [6], Hisham Sabri [7], Lawrence Negrillo [8], Ryan Yeomans [8], Leon Dilandu [8].

As usual the grading was a test on a broad variety of TKD disciplines, one of the most important being poomsae. It was great to see the efforts of all. The youngsters showed us their interpretation of poomsae which often brings a wry smile to onlookers & examiners alike as their youthful exuberance and concentration usually forgives a few mistakes.

There was a good spread of TKD knowledge shown by answers to theory questions, which were over & above the grading requirements, but great to see that there is a bit of behind the scenes homework being carried out. Well done Michal, Robert & Cian who answered some tough questions. Some other highlights include young Leon Dilandu taking centre stage to himself showing higher poomsae, young Lawrence showed great concentration & efforts in his poomsae efforts, excellent sparring kicking shown by the group, in particular Veteran Mario who was flying. Finally, delighted to welcome Danielle & Partick to our grading system, both previous ITF Taekwon-do green belts have begun our belt system with a double promotion to yellow belt.

Delighted to see the mix in grades performing well together and we hope the group can excel even further with the new upcoming standalone beginner sessions scheduled for Thursdays 6-7pm.

Our next club grading will be Summer 2014, which will be planned according to any ITU black belt grading notification.

Well done all, was great to see the im provement in standard in this Winters grading from the club throughout.
