South Dublin Taekwondo

All Ireland 2015 / 3rd Korean Ambassadors Cup

South Dublin Taekwondo [SDTKD] had a team of 30 members competing at the Baldoyle Badminton centre where beginners up to advanced players took part. The international event saw all players from age 6 to 40’s compete with the latest technology in Olympic Style Taekwondo that will be used in next years Rio Olympics. SDTKD were delighted that all members secured a medal of some sort on the day with some inspiring performances from all groups, in particular father & daughter pairing Mariusz & Samantha Malecki who won the gold in the veterans & pee wee divisions respectively, utilising the electronic head protectors to full effect. The team was coached by Jamilah Depakakibo & Head Coach Robert Taaffe who noted, ‘This was a great day for the club. The medals are a bonus, but the real win was the experience for the group and the brilliant support from the friends and families on the side-line.’ SDTKD won the 1st place team trophy at the event which was supported by the Korean Embassy in Ireland & hosted by the Irish taekwondo Union, the National Governing Body for taekwondo in Ireland.
