South Dublin Taekwondo

Tots Summer Promotion 2015

South Dublin Taekwondo’s (SDTKD) youngest members recently were promoted at their ‘stars’ presentation night. The Taekwondo Tots group were rewarded for all of their hard work by Totshead coach Dylan Leonard at their bi-annual presentation night, where each received the next colour star to be applied to their red taekwondo uniform. The group for 3-6 year olds focuses on fun and games and is a stepping stone to full taekwondo training. The stars coloured white, yellow, green, blue, red & black follow the traditional taekwondo belt colours, once a student has revieved their ‘Black Star’ is means the Taekwondo Tots Coach believes they are ready for full taekwondo training in ‘The Big Club’. The stars were presented on the night by Head Coach Dylan Leonard, accompanied by his 2 assistant coaches & SDTKD Junior black belts Jack Woolley & Aoibhe Thornton, all three of whom are international taekwondo players in their own right, and offering a youthful approach to coaching some of taekwondo’s youngest members at the club headquarters in Tallaght Leisure Centre. A total of 22 little Tots were recipients of awards on the night, the highest of whom were awarded red stars; Fionn Coughlan [Who’s older brother progressed from the Tots group and now holds a blue belt in the older class], and Leanna Rena, [who’s older brother & sister Jed & Kim currently hold red belts and are joint leaders in the club 2015 competition leaderboard]. It looks like these 2, and their young colleagues will be following in their families footsteps in the not to distant future. The training programme (Taekwondo Tots™) was set up by the club in 2009 and proves to be the most in demand class of all at SDTKD Club.
