Ayrfield 1-2-1
Well done all for great efforts at recent training sparring exercise at the Ayrfield 1-2-1 on 15th March. SDTKD had a gang of 18 players in action, many of whom had some valuable mat time at this event. typically 1-2-1 events are on e match, manually paired off against players of similar abilities, to give attendees some time to train & fight in a competitive surrounding and build experience & confidence for next competitive outing. many of our players on the day had more than one matches to assist with their sparring training.
Out team was made up of Patrick, Eironn & Sheevaughn Gammad, Adam & Ben Nugent, Danielle Ryan, Robert Mills, newcomer David Phealan, Karl Negrillo, Cian Coughlan, Michal Slowinski, Jason Ingram, Patrick Worth, Jamie Gaffney, Louise Lawless, Grace Hicks, Aoibhe Thornton, Ethan Feng.
It was great to see all performances on the day, everyone went home with participation medals. There were also a good gang who stepped up to divisions ‘punching above their weight’; Louise & Aoibhe had a senior match and did excellently, Adam had a strong match against a heavier black belt, and Ethan had 2 good matches against heavier players. Other performances of note include Danielle who had 2 excellent matches, Michal & Grace who made a strong comeback to the ring, and Patrick Worth who was comfortable with his long legs in match.
Many thanks to the juniors & cadets who assisted on the day to keep all the team moving. Great teamwork from all noted.
